The Kia Telluride has been the top rated SUV for two consecutive years. This three-row midsize  SUV can accommodate up to eight people and is the largest in the Kia lineup. Our experts  praised the Telluride for its smooth ride quality, luxurious interior, and  third row seating that can comfortably accommodate adults. It also comes  with many standard features and has the latest security technology.

For 2022, you will see some small differences in the badge on the Telluride. Kia has redesigned its logo and the Telluride emblem on the back features a different font and wider spacing. All models now come standard with a 10.25-inch screen  that includes navigation and automatic climate control.

There are plenty of capable midsize SUVs out there and for those who want to do their due diligence, it may be worth taking the time to take a look at the Telluride competition. The Hyundai Palisade is probably the closest match because it is mechanically similar to the Telluride. You might also consider the Honda Pilot and Volkswagen Atlas, but ultimately the Telluride 2022  is our favorite. Read our expert review below to find out why.

What's it like to live with?

We examined a 2020 Telluride SX V6 AWD as a part of our long-time work and took a look at the fleet. It's proved to be a comfortable, successful and reliable car of the closest related haulers, and, if anything, our fondness for the Telluride has most effectively grown after numerous thousand miles were spent driving the vehicles of this class. Note that whilst we examined a 2020 Telluride, all of our observations additionally point to the 2022 model. Read our Telluride's 20,000-mile long-test period to understand what it is like to own this car.

Our verdict    8.4 / 10

The Telluride is an excellent three-row SUV. It boasts a quiet and upscale cabin, outstanding tech, substantial preferred features, adult-pleasant third-row seating, and a fulfilling riding experience. It has some minor weaknesses, however universally this Kia is a top notch select out for a three-row crossover SUVs.

How does the Telluride drive?    8.0

The Telluride is a fun SUV to drive. Its V6 engine is responsive, although overall acceleration is ultimately average for a three-row SUV. In Edmunds testing, our Telluride test vehicle accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, which is similar to the acceleration of the Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade. The brakes are powerful and can stop the Telluride quickly.

They are also easy to control for smooth and rough stops. Light steering when letting the car to be parked naturally and  increases speed and weight when cornering. Telluride is stable in turns and does not exhibit excessive body roll. We also would  like to mention that the fuel-efficient engine stop and start function runs smoothly and quietly.

How comfortable is the Telluride?    9.0

Telluride is quite comfortable. The seats provide good support and shape, with almost cushion-shaped headrests. never obnoxious or intrusive. For a three-row SUV, the Telluride is generally smooth, although it can get a bit rough on uneven pavement. The air conditioning system is easy to use and  regulates the temperature well in all three rows. While the seat heats up and ventilates they aren't the most powerful on the market, it's nice to see them available for  first and second row passengers.

How’s the interior?    8.5

The Telluride gives a completely roomy and upscale-feeling cabin with smooth get right of entry to to all 3 rows. Passenger area is extraordinary in each second one of 1/3 rows. The area feels extra open, thank you to the abundance of huge windows. The front-passenger knee room is a touch tight.

The controls are perfectly classified and grouped logically. However, while driving, you will have to force yourself to stretch to attain the infotainment screen. Visibility of the surroundings is clear, because of the huge windows. The digital digicam structures and parking sensors are useful extras in this car.

How’s the tech?    8.0

All Tellurides are equipped with extensive collision avoidance and mitigation systems and adaptive cruise control that operates  to a standstill. Integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also  standard, and there are plenty of USB ports  spread across all three rows, although only one can transmit data. The optional larger infotainment screen (EX and later) has a crisp appearance and  comes with navigation that offers several useful features.

Our SX test vehicle also had head-up display and rear seat intercom functions - both of which are useful. The 10-speaker sound system is also excellent. The camera display of the turn signals in the turn signal group is less impressive. It's small, low resolution and most importantly redundant given the normal blind spot monitoring system.

How’s the storage?    8.0

Cargo area is generous, with 21 cubic toes at the back of the 1/3 row and 87 cubes with each rows folded down. The hatch starting is huge and accommodating, and there is a beneficial underfloor compartment too. With 5,000 kilos of max towing capacity, the Telluride fits magnificence leaders.

Small-object space compartment is a weakness. While there are numerous alternatives for organizing small objects, there is a great deal for much less area for small private objects than in a few other competitors. Got small children? Child protection seats fit in easily, and the automobile seat anchors are not hard to find.
How’s the fuel economy?    7.0

Telluride AWD's EPA estimated fuel mileage is slightly lower than the 21-combined average  (19 city / 24 highway). On the plus side, our Telluride test hit around 23 mpg on our 115-mile mixed driving  route, indicating that the EPA numbers are realistic. You can run the V6 on regular gasoline, unlike some rival SUVs which require premium gasoline to deliver rated horsepower and fuel economy figures.
Is the Telluride a good value?    8.0

The Telluride might be the best value in the class for what you get. At every price point, you get just that little something extra, from the interior driving experience to  standard and available features. And with the best finishes, you get an almost luxurious experience. Overall we are very impressed with the Telluride quality. You also get Kia's impressive 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Wildcard    9.0

It looks like Kia went tough on a "infant Land Rover '' feel, and it nailed it having the Telluride discovery as a knockoff. It's a good luxury vehicle in a great way, and the Telluride's space, layout and riding revel in are a step above competitors.
